Hi,
I am writing this to share my experience in TCS, may be there are so many TCS campus joinees searching in internet about this and also for my future recollection of my initial days experience.
I was asked to report at CMC centre, Hyderabad on Feb-07-2011 at 8:15 AM. As Hyderabad is a known place & living here from last 10 months, nothing feel new.
The first day, I was at CMC centre by 8:00 AM, the security people asked me to goto auditorium. There I found so many people sitting and chitchatting. I am the alone from my college, so somewhat new.
After half-an-hour the induction program was started with a TATA group movie, which makes us more energetic & proud to be a part of TATA group.
Then after the introduction & speeches by HR, ILP coordinator and so many people about TCS. They gave a lunch break for 1 Hour. After that few more speeches. At the evening they started Documents verification, but due to lack of time they verified the documents of few people and remaining was postponed to next day. So we end the day at around 7PM and asked to come at by 8AM next day.
The second day, also we gather in Auditorium. Again speeches & about the training program (ILP). After the lunch we had the document verification and in parallel Bank account opening. This time I got the opportunity to submit my documents. The day ends with 8PM by announcing that there is a Pre-ILP online test on next day and have to come by 9AM.
The third day, they engaged a class room for us to write the test. The test was for about 45 mins. After completing the test, they put the batching details in local FTP. From afternoon we have to sit according to that in respective classes.
Documents Check List:
1. Originals & Xerox Copies of 10th, Intermediate (+2 or 12th), Degree final certificate & all semesters mark sheets.
2. Birth Certificate Copy (Attested).
3. Copy of Passport (Attested), Original for verification.
4. Offer Letter & Joining Letter (Signed by you on all pages at bottom).
5. 20 Passport Size Photos (12 for them, remaining for Bank account etc;)
6. PAN card copy (Attested).
7. Medical Certificate. (Dont forget Stamp & Sign on Photo by your Doctor).
8. Service Agreement Signed by you & surety on all pages at bottom.
9. (A) Surety’s PAN Card Copy (Attested) with IT Returns/Saral /Form 2D/ Form 16/ Form 12B . (Attested). (OR)
(B) Copy of LAND DEED documents (Attested), with latest valuation Certificate (Original, not XEROX) from Registrar Office with valuation above Rs. 50,000/-.
10. Affidavit/Notarized undertaking.
11. Surety Verification form signed by Surety and Signed & Sealed by Gazetted Officer or others prescribed by TCS in joining annexure.
12. Fill the Back Ground Check form correctly.
*Attested means the Xerox copies are signed by a Gazetted Officer with his sign (Green Pen) & seal (Stamp).
Make all the papers 3 sets. Don’t make XEROX of Gazetted officer signed papers. Take Gazetted officer sign & seal on all 3 sets of your documents.
Get PAN & Address proofs atleast 5 copies.
For Fresher Joinees:
1. Report daily at correct time, don’t be late.
2. Come in formals with Tie (Compulsory) for men with shaved beard.
3. Mobile Phones are strictly prohibited during training, can be put in silent but not to be supposed to use until the end of the day. If they found, you will lose your phone.
4. Strictly follow the break-times. Don’t be late. Coffee/Tea is offered at breaks for Free.
5. Lunch is paid from day one, but cheap. Offers at Rs. 30 for Buffet (may vary from location-location)
Process of ILP:
The ILP program was divided into two phases. The first phase is about 23 working days. Here you will have Batch Meetings, ECs and a Case Study. The case study was common to all of your classmates. The First phase includes basics of Java, Testing, Unix.... The first phase was common to entire ILP. To qualify the first phase you have to get atleast 50% of average in ECs, Batch Meetings & Case Study. So you will be in next phase, which is called Stream training.
Stream Training is on one of the particular subjects like JAVA, .NET, Unix/C++ etc; Here also you will have Batch meetings (BM) & ECs and a case study. To qualify this phase you should have atleast 50% average in ECs, BMs and in case study. The batch was divided into groups and each group was assigned with one project. If you secured atleast 50% in Phase-2, then your ILP was completed.
If you fail to get 50% average in Phase-1, you will be send to a special program called LAAP, which will be for 7-15 days. After the LAAP again the exam will be conducted and if you qualify the exam you will send to Stream Training.
The whole ILP is around 50 working days. First phase will be around 23 working days.
After your completion of second phase training, the ILP gives your percentage and after few days you will also get ILP rating (out of 5).
Daily Schedule:
Daily there will be around 9hrs of training with 4 sessions. Morning 2 sessions & after lunch 2 sessions.
Morning & evening have 15mins tea break, Afternoon 1 Hour Lunch break.
After ILP:
On the last day of training, the ILP coordinators will give the reporting sheet and according to the the time & place mentioned we have to report. There the RMG's (Resource Management Group) will announce the names according to the project assigned. Here project assigned doesn't mean that you are ready for that project. Its just a mapping. You will be under one RMG. As I said you are mapped for a project, here if there are so many people along with you then tests, interviews will be conducted by respective Project leads. Untill & unless you are completely "IN" into the project, you are in Bench. Here you can enjoy alot.
You are answerable to RMG daily until you are completely allocated into a project.

How much hours a day is the training , plz give the schedule ??
what is the duration of phase -2 ??
Is it too much neccessary to study the aspire material before joining.What about the accommodation in Hyderabad.

hii good work dode i have some dout regarding document verification how will they do it... i have one problem i have aggree of 60.4% from 1st to 8th sem,
but in my degree certificate its second class as they take from 5th to 8th sem which i have 59 will that be a problem pls reply soon as m very tensed about this am joining on march 10th in chennai..
yeh i have 60 from 1 to 8th but the prob is just 5th to 8th sem.. if i call to tcs helpline it vl become still complex so i am asking you, how will the verification process take place?
no in our final degree certificate they take aggregate of only from 5th to 8th thats the problem of VTU karnataka..

@bharath: how to fill the blanks in the service agreement ..whether we have 2 fill them then to take prinout or we can fill them with pen after taking printouts???
It's your Choice. You can fill it with pen by taking printout or you can write all in computer and take printout.
I done with pen only...
@bharat(Mr.admin)-----what is the actual salary we will be getting in hand????and shall they provide lunch free of cost or any other facilities ??????and h'v we to shave regularly?Is there any problem if one trim his beard instead of shaving?????????

I don't know the exact amount, becoz we didn't received the salary yet. My friend said he got 17,600/-.
They didn’t provide lunch for free, but for paid. For us..it is Rs.30 for Buffet.
Trimming is not allowed. You have to Shave, atleast for 2 days.

If they mention that they will provide Accomodation, then they will provide..

should we bring Medical Certificate from government hospital or can we bring from any hospital , what should it contain exactly a routine medical check up or .......ant thing else

First of all Medical certificate was found in your TCS Joining Annexure.
Fill it, make signed by any MBBS doctor with seal. Dont forget to take sign & seal on Photo you pasted with Doctor. .

Yes both sides, also with attestation on both sides...
Address & ID proofs take atleast 6 copies each.(Better 10, for safeside).
will ilp training contains only java,unix,programming language...i'm b.tech mechanical...will there be any software package courses related to mechanical engg in ilp...
No... no subs related to mech. in ILP.
In CILP (Phase-1) max content is JAVA.. in stream training (phase-2) you will assign one purticular software like JAVA or .NET etc, as available.
In hyderabad for phase-2 the available courses are JAVA, .NET, Unix/c++ only.

Bharat.....In the BGC checklist it is requested to self attest and sign the documents like...(voter's ID,PAN,degree certificates etc..).....so,"self attest and signed" means-I h'v to sign and put date when I signed that page at the bottom of the pages......r8?replyyyyyyy..and I am taking 3 cpoies of each document attested by Gazzetted officer+1copy self attested......is it sufficient???I'm also taking 2 xtra copies of each document and 20 passport photograph.is it ok??????/plzzzzz reply........

You have to write as ".....on this Twenty ninth day of March,Two thousand and Eleven", all in words.
Yes, you can write in computer and take printout.
Self attested is required.. you can sign there, they will assist you.
Yah 3 copies is sufficient.

I've selected for TCS... i've a question regarding documents' check list....
In my resume i've mentioned one Diploma course (PGDIT) in between my
Graduation and MS... but that's not any university certificate oriented course...so is there any problem while verifying document?
And I finished my degree in 2006, MS in IT (2008-11 *pursuing* )... in between I've done PGDIT during 2006-08. I've only a pass certificate (not like university certificate )from that institute...
HI i got placed in tcs. I got a mail from TCS about backgroun check to join in NAASCOM. Is it necessary to join in this NAASCOM
Yah it is necessary. If you didn't make it now, TCS will take care it after your joining.
But it is good, do it before you join. It is just a 5 min process.

I have a problem regarding present address proof, I mentioned my hostel address in tcs portal .I have letter from my hostel super as proof against it.Now in NSR form and in BGC what should I write in place of present address ,as I left my hostel after final sem.plz rply...

No... for us they didn't consider it as a serious test.
The whole ILP is full of enjoyment. This is the only period you ll enjoy in TCS.

But the problem is that i am failed in one subject in 5th sem. tell me wat should i do?
will they terminate my joining?
my final sem result along with the marksheet will come in august.

Hey Joy, the first test is not so that important. You can get questions based on Pre-ILP. All the ques are objective & no negative marking.

It's your Choice. You can fill it with pen by taking printout or you can write all in computer and take printout.

They didn’t provide lunch for free, but for paid. For us..it is Rs.30 for Buffet.

First of all Medical certificate was found in your TCS Joining Annexure.
Fill it, make signed by any MBBS doctor with seal. Dont forget to take sign & seal on Photo you pasted with Doctor. .

No... no subs related to mech. in ILP.
In CILP (Phase-1) max content is JAVA.. in stream training (phase-2) you will assign one purticular software like JAVA or .NET etc, as available.
In hyderabad for phase-2 the available courses are JAVA, .NET, Unix/c++ only.

Bharat.....In the BGC checklist it is requested to self attest and sign the documents like...(voter's ID,PAN,degree certificates etc..).....so,"self attest and signed" means-I h'v to sign and put date when I signed that page at the bottom of the pages......r8?replyyyyyyy..and I am taking 3 cpoies of each document attested by Gazzetted officer+1copy self attested......is it sufficient???I'm also taking 2 xtra copies of each document and 20 passport photograph.is it ok??????/plzzzzz reply........
Self attested is required.. you can sign there, they will assist you.

Yah it is necessary. If you didn't make it now, TCS will take care it after your joining.
But it is good, do it before you join. It is just a 5 min process.

You can find the Aspire material on your Pre-ILP login. Also I don't have the stuff related to Aspire, because at that time we just read the questions there and solved.
If you got any mail regarding Aspire (Pre-ILP), login into it and read the material what they provided.
Yes mostly they won't remove. But matters on your behaviour.

Hi bgdivyamurthy, What's the problem in bringing the Surety verification form? The surety verification form attested by Gazetted Officer was also accepted. Don't make complex issues, becoz if that particular HR won't accept then you ll face probs.
Hi Alqama, Regarding training it was like mentioned above. I don't know whether ITIS have different subjects or same.
Birth Certificate won't be accepted as address proof. There are two options for you:
1. Don't mention different address for Permanent. Write it same as Present Address.
2. Affidavit from a lawyer can be accepted as Address Proof. (Ask lawyer once).

To get good marks just listen & follow what your facilitator said. Also if you have time between joining then take course from any institute.
Onething, here no matters which background you are. All are same.
Yes there are tests & assignments in ILP. Also there will be programs like what U mentioned.
Pre-ILP test is a Objective test based on the Aspire material (which was very basic). Its not tough for a NON CS background.

No it is not that much difficult. Just follow what they said. It's easy to score 50%

It's not a problem. No one is good in english. Even there is no marks for Life skills programme in ILP.
It's a Pre-ILP test. It was conducted on 3rd day for us. The exam is on basics. No -ve marking, its a multiple choice exam. Even the result was not reveiled for us.

They didn't gave any preferences to me. The ILP & work location is same for all of my ILP batch.
The test on the 3rd was on your Pre-ILP (Aspire).
There was no criteria for assigning the stream. It was random.
I don't know exactly... Becoz there was no one in my batch/ frnds in ITIS. I heard it is about Infrastructure like servers etc;
