Running .EXE/ Windows softwares in Ubuntu: WINE HQ

Running .EXE files,Windows Softwares, in Linux Distros. If you are a newbie it sounds new. What .EXE files in LINUX? But YES you can run them. All this by using WINE Hq. Luckily this tool is also available for Free.
Let us see how to install that.

[For Offline Installation(Non internet Connection PCs) see at bottom.]

For Online Installation:
1.Open the Terminal [Application ->Accessories -> Terminal]
2. Follow the instructions based on your Version you are using.

For Ubuntu 9.10 :

 (a) First we have to add it into respository, todo run the following command:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-wine/ppa

(b) Make APT package information update:

sudo add apt-get update

(c)Install Wine HQ software:

sudo apt apt-get install wine

Now you can install exe/ windows softwares like in Microsoft windows smoothly.
NOTE: Check the Windows softwares which run Smoothly and Effectively in Unbuntu by Checking here.

For Ubuntu 9.04 and earlier versions:

For 9.04 Version

sudo wget http://wine.budgetdedicated.com/apt/sources.list.d/jaunty.list -O /etc/apt/sources.list.d/winehq.list

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install wine

For 8.10 version:

sudo wget http://wine.budgetdedicated.com/apt/sources.list.d/intrepid.list -O /etc/apt/sources.list.d/winehq.list

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install wine

For 8.04 version:

sudo wget http://wine.budgetdedicated.com/apt/sources.list.d/hardy.list -O /etc/apt/sources.list.d/winehq.list

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install wine

Now you can install exe/ windows softwares like in Microsoft windows smoothly.

Offline installation:

Since the APT repository can only hold the latest packages, older versions of the packages are available at the WineHQ .deb packages archive.
You can install downloaded packages by double-clicking on them.
