Hi,
I am writing this to share my experience in TCS, may be there are so many TCS campus joinees searching in internet about this and also for my future recollection of my initial days experience.

I was asked to report at CMC centre, Hyderabad on Feb-07-2011 at 8:15 AM. As Hyderabad is a known place & living here from last 10 months, nothing feel new.

The first day, I was at CMC centre by 8:00 AM, the security people asked me to goto auditorium. There I found so many people sitting and chitchatting. I am the alone from my college, so somewhat new.

After half-an-hour the induction program was started with a TATA group movie, which makes us more energetic & proud to be a part of TATA group.



Then after the introduction & speeches by HR, ILP coordinator and so many people about TCS. They gave a lunch break for 1 Hour. After that few more speeches. At the evening they started Documents verification, but due to lack of time they verified the documents of few people and remaining was postponed to next day. So we end the day at around 7PM and asked to come at by 8AM next day.

The second day, also we gather in Auditorium. Again speeches & about the training program (ILP). After the lunch we had the document verification and in parallel Bank account opening. This time I got the opportunity to submit my documents. The day ends with 8PM by announcing that there is a Pre-ILP online test on next day and have to come by 9AM.

The third day, they engaged a class room for us to write the test. The test was for about 45 mins. After completing the test, they put the batching details in local FTP. From afternoon we have to sit according to that in respective classes.

Documents Check List:

1. Originals & Xerox Copies of 10th, Intermediate (+2 or 12th), Degree final certificate & all semesters mark sheets.
2. Birth Certificate Copy (Attested).
3. Copy of Passport (Attested), Original for verification.
4. Offer Letter & Joining Letter (Signed by you on all pages at bottom).
5. 20 Passport Size Photos (12 for them, remaining for Bank account etc;)
6. PAN card copy (Attested).
7. Medical Certificate. (Dont forget Stamp & Sign on Photo by your Doctor).
8. Service Agreement Signed by you & surety on all pages at bottom.
9. (A) Surety’s PAN Card Copy (Attested) with IT Returns/Saral /Form 2D/ Form 16/ Form 12B . (Attested).                                            (OR)
    (B) Copy of  LAND DEED documents (Attested), with latest valuation Certificate (Original, not XEROX) from Registrar Office with valuation above Rs. 50,000/-.
10. Affidavit/Notarized undertaking.
11. Surety Verification form signed by Surety and Signed & Sealed by Gazetted Officer or others prescribed by TCS in joining annexure.
12. Fill the Back Ground Check form correctly.

*Attested means the Xerox copies are signed by a Gazetted Officer with his sign (Green Pen) & seal (Stamp).

Make all the papers 3 sets. Don’t make XEROX of Gazetted officer signed papers. Take Gazetted officer sign & seal on all 3 sets of your documents.

Get PAN & Address proofs atleast 5 copies.

For Fresher Joinees:

1. Report daily at correct time, don’t be late.
2. Come in formals with Tie (Compulsory) for men with shaved beard.
3. Mobile Phones are strictly prohibited during training, can be put in silent but not to be supposed to use until the end of the day. If they found, you will lose your phone.
4. Strictly follow the break-times. Don’t be late. Coffee/Tea is offered at breaks for Free.
5. Lunch is paid from day one, but cheap. Offers at Rs. 30 for Buffet (may vary from location-location)

Process of ILP:

The ILP program was divided into two phases. The first phase is about 23 working days. Here you will have Batch Meetings, ECs and a Case Study. The case study was common to all of your classmates. The First phase includes basics of Java, Testing, Unix.... The first phase was common to entire ILP. To qualify the first phase you have to get atleast 50% of average in ECs, Batch Meetings & Case Study. So you will be in next phase, which is called Stream training.

Stream Training is on one of the particular subjects like JAVA, .NET, Unix/C++ etc; Here also you will have Batch meetings (BM) & ECs and a case study. To qualify this phase you should have atleast 50% average in ECs, BMs and in case study. The batch was divided into groups and each group was assigned with one project. If you secured atleast 50% in Phase-2, then your ILP was completed.

If you fail to get 50% average in Phase-1, you will be send to a special program called LAAP, which will be for 7-15 days. After the LAAP again the exam will be conducted and if you qualify the exam you will send to Stream Training.

The whole ILP is around 50 working days. First phase will be around 23 working days.

After your completion of second phase training, the ILP gives your percentage and after few days you will also get ILP rating (out of 5).

Daily Schedule:

Daily there will be around 9hrs of training with 4 sessions. Morning 2 sessions & after lunch 2 sessions.
Morning & evening have 15mins tea break, Afternoon 1 Hour Lunch break.

After ILP:

On the last day of training, the ILP coordinators will give the reporting sheet and according to the the time & place mentioned  we have to report. There the RMG's (Resource Management Group) will announce the names according to the project assigned. Here project assigned doesn't mean that you are ready for that project. Its just a mapping. You will be under one RMG. As I said you are mapped for a project, here if there are so many people along with you then tests, interviews will be conducted by respective Project leads. Untill & unless you are completely "IN" into the project, you are in Bench. Here you can enjoy alot.

 You are answerable to RMG daily until you are completely allocated into a project.
